About Me
My name is Brady Doran, and I am a recent graduate from the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication with a BS. In grade school, my teachers called me a daydreamer. Back in those classrooms, my love for storytelling was born. Creative collaboration and storytelling are where I shine. I am curious and eager to experience the world and its people. I want to tell the stories of my own experiences and those who deserve to have their stories told.
I’ve always felt compelled to tell a story. I’m the middle son of 3 boys, which contributed to my love of storytelling. I was always in the middle of everything: The negotiator, the peacemaker, and the joker. Whether it’s a photo, verbal, written, or making a short film with friends, I always find myself telling stories. But, most of all, I love to write.
During the summer of 2022, I participated in the University of Oregon Media in Ghana program in Accra, Ghana. As a field reporter, I worked for the Daily Guide, a popular English-speaking newspaper. I had the opportunity to cover everything from political events to sports and entertainment. While in Africa, I spent most of my time covering the protection of forests, illegal mining prevention, and cyber fraud. While I didn’t necessarily have a beat as a reporter, I learned that my writing could entertain anyone regardless of their background.
After my internship in Ghana, I returned to Oregon eager to pursue my passion for journalism. Since then, I’ve sought out and written stories featuring city council members, ranchers, and even a Samurai. I’ve worked as a copyeditor on a magazine where I covered the Greater Idaho Movement, a church that legally uses mushrooms, and a group of men who build their own planes. If there’s an interesting story out there, I’ll find it. My work has recently allowed me to travel to Japan and Colombia. I am still in the beginning stages of my journey, but I am working hard to turn my dream of being a storyteller into a reality.
